Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A solitaire tea set is an individual tea service comprising a reduced-scale tray, teapot, cup, saucer, cream jug, and sugar bowl designed for one person. The Imari decoration style derives from Japanese export porcelain, characterised by rich cobalt blue underglaze, iron red enamel motifs, and lavish gilding popularised by English potteries during the nineteenth century.

Antique Royal Crown Derby pieces are made from fine bone china, incorporating bone ash, kaolin, and feldspathic china stone to achieve translucency and durability. The surface embellishment combines underglaze cobalt blue painting, overglaze enamel colours, and hand-applied 22-carat gold leaf gilding.

Authentic pieces carry printed or impressed factory backmarks on the base, typically featuring a crown above interwoven D letters or specific date ciphers. Collectors also inspect for hand-written pattern numbers and the characteristically precise, heavy gilding associated with Derby manufacture.

Miniature porcelain sets are ideally displayed inside glazed cabinet niches, styled on shallow picture ledges, or arranged upon lacquer trays on a sideboard. Their compact proportions allow them to serve as subtle decorative accents on bookshelves without cluttering contemporary living spaces.

Gilded porcelain requires gentle hand washing using lukewarm water and a neutral liquid soap applied with a soft sponge. Abrasive cloths, chemical detergents, and automated dishwashers must be avoided to prevent wear to delicate overglaze enamels and original gilding.
