Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency furniture, dating from the early nineteenth century, is defined by classical Greek and Roman influences, clean lines, and architectural proportions. Common features include fine veneers, reeded or fluted legs, and elegant gallery backs.

Craftsmen during this period predominantly used high-grade Cuban or West Indian mahogany, valued for its rich grain and stability. Secondary woods such as pine or oak were used for drawer linings, while turnings and decorative knobs were often executed in turned timber or brass.

Authentic pieces from or inspired by Gillows of Lancaster display exceptional joinery, including fine hand-cut dovetail joints, smooth drawer runners, and crisp hand-carved reeding on the legs. Some pieces carry maker stamps on drawer tops, though unsigned examples show identical high-calibre timber selection and precise cabinetmaking.

A mahogany table can serve as an elegant console in an entryway, a compact home office desk, or a dressing table in a bedroom. Pairing the rich timber tone with contemporary wall paint, minimalist ceramics, or modern artwork creates a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and contemporary design.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber finish. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying, cracking, or uneven fading of the natural wood tones.
