Description

A wonderful and most unusual set of postal scales by the top-notch and highly sought-after manufacturer, Sampson Mordan & Co. of London.

The brass support is beautifully decorated with attractive engraved work. The two pans are pierced or reticulated with attractive foliate decoration, almost Palm Tree like. The support sits on a serpentine shaped base made from burr Walnut and in turn on three original bun feet.

There are four weights sitting to the front; 1 x 2oz, 1 x 1oz and 2 x 1/2oz.

Dating to around 1860, it remains in excellent condition measuring 7" x 4 1/2" x 4 3/4" tall.
