Small Antique English Brass Book Stand / Lectern C.1880

Description

Dating to around 1880, this English Victorian book rest is smaller than many, perfect for that special book, perhaps a prayer book or smaller bible. It would also look perfect in the kitchen for recipe cards or again a smaller cookery book.

There are two shaped supports at the front which is where the book would sit and the pages held back with the green cord with solid brass ball weights. The cord is a replacement so in good order and ready to use.

The book-rest stands on a folding easel stand, adjusting to the correct angle or folding completely flat and standing on three ball feet.

The front panel has an all-over pierced or reticulated decoration enhanced with a stamped fleur-de-lys style design.

Beautifully polished to gleam and in excellent condition. The front measures 9" x 7" tall.
