“The British Plutarch containing The Lives of the Most Eminent Statesmen, Patriots, Divines, Warriors, Philosophers, Poets, and Artists, of Great Britain and Ireland, from the Accession of Henry VIII to the present Time. Including, a Compendious View of the History of England during that Period”. Third Edition, revised, corrected and considerably enlarged, by the addition of new lives and a copious index to Volume 8. Author anonymous [Thomas Mortimer], published by Charles Dilly, London 1791.

Handsomely bound in striking tree calf with gilt decorated spines. Frontispiece to Volume I. Internally age toning and the odd mark/spot here and there, otherwise pages are generally clean with wear and marks to the covers consistent with age. Hinges to Volume 8 cracked but holding well.

Each volume has a height of some 17.8 cms, a depth of some 11 cms and the total width of the set is some 18.7 cms.
