The stunning inkwell is made from an enourmous chunk of crystal with the base diameter measuring 4 1/2" and stands 5 1/2" tall to top of lid. The silver plated domed top is beautifully decorated with engraved work.
The inkwell is one of the most famous, I have had examples of this Betjemann's partner's desk inkwell before but never an oversized one like this. The base is enhanced with deep cut in the ever-popular hobnail design. The patented top is engineered to open from either side of a Partner's desk.
A couple of old grain cracks to the Oak, solid and stable but mentioned for accuracy, and a age crack to the base of the drawer, which is quite normal. The inkwell is in superb undamaged condition. The oak plinth measures 9" x 9". Pen and letter for photographic purposes only and not included with the sale.
