A Ww1 Military Telescope

1900 - 1920
Description

A good military telescope on stand. The brass telescope made by The Periscopic Prism Co London ( well known makers of sniper scopes) and the stand by Broadhurst Clarkson London. Both dated 1917 and 1915 respectively. The telescope bears the broad arrow military mark. Both are with military green paint some of which has worn through to the brass surfaces. The telescope is powerful with a good 6cm objective lens. It focusses well (there are cross hairs) and moves horizontally smoothly and vertically on the stand. The stand is very well made with all its fittings intact. The legs are of oak and brass with aluminium tops and adjust up and down well. There is an original objective lens cap and screw on sun shade which has a minor dent in it. The main barrel has a hairline crack in it which is of no consequence and has probably been there since it was made.

The scope 77.5 cm long 6.5 cm in diameter Max height on stand 166 min about 106cm

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
