Description

This is a very pretty late Victorian Italian Pietra Dura marble panel depicting birds perched on a tree branch with a butterfly in the foreground. The detailed picture is skilfully created with many multicoloured specimen marble types inset into a black marble background.

These grand tour souvenirs were crafted in Italy by skilled artisans throughout the 18th and 19th century.

The frame measures 20 cms by 15 cms overall with the marble panel being 13.5 cms by 9 cms.
