Description

This is a really striking decorative tray in hand tooled, pierced and silvered copper from the Arts & Crafts period circa1900. The tray is eastern in original probably Indian and is the type of decorative wares that were imported from the middle east and retailed by the Liberty store in London in the early 20th century. The panel is intricately worked and has a peacock to the centre surrounded by flowers, fruits and leaves with fish. This is surrounded by ringlets worked with hearts, urns, pots and fish all hand tooled in detail to the copper. The outer surround of the panel is filled with stylised sunflowers, quite aesthetic in style. The pierced copper has a lovely soft antique colour and the tray is in excellent condition and measures 58 cms by 42 cms.

This is a useful size and would make a very attractive wall hanging piece in the right setting.
