Description

A very well made and powerful terrestrial telescope by the highly regarded London maker Cary. Suitable for excellent terrestrial or astronomical observation. probably made in the early 1800's at 181 The Strand London. Signed on the plated single draw (slight wear mark just below the inscribed address). Excellent lenses and focusses well with a clear image. Leather covered barrel with a brass sun shade covering the objective lens. The beech and brass tripod stand is later but the telescope is fitted to it well with a bronze attachment.(Can be detached from the stand). It rotates smoothly on its adjustable brass mount and moves well vertically when observing the night sky. Generally in excellent condition but with obvious acceptable marks from useage over time.
