19th century
Description

Shakspere's Works bound in black polished half calf bindings with midnight blue cloth to the boards, spines with gilt decorated raised bands and gilt lettered title labels. The Works are "revised from the best authorities, with a memoir and essay on Shakspere's genius by Barry Cornwall and annotations and introductory remarks on the plays by many distinguished writers." The volumes are profusely illustrated with engravings on wood from designs by Kenny Meadows and published by Robert Tyas of London in 1843.

The following approximate dimensions apply:-
