The lettering and paintwork is clear and hardly worn. The Tipstaff has a good colour and patina.

A Tipstaff was used by an officer of the court and represented a position of authority, usually being carried in front of the bearer. They could also be used as protection like a truncheon if required.
This one measures 29.5cm l x 3.5cm w.
Dated between 1830-37 when William 1V reigned.
