Antique Tipstaff - William IV Graphics

Description

An antique Beechwood Tipstaff. It has red painted highlights on it and graphics WR 1V referring to William IV and an officers number 19 also on the main body. The lettering and paintwork is clear and hardly worn. The Tipstaff has a good colour and patina.

A Tipstaff was used by an officer of the court and represented a position of authority, usually being carried in front of the bearer. They could also be used as protection like a truncheon if required.

This one measures 29.5cm l x 3.5cm w.

Dated between 1830-37 when William 1V reigned.
