Donnelly Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The boards are covered in cloth with gilt edging to the adjacent leather. The edges of the pages and the end papers are marbled. This complete set in 10 volumes is a fourth edition, with the text carefully revised with notes by S W Singer F.S.A. Volume I contains The Life of William Shakespeare by W Watkiss LLoyd, author of the Life of Pericles, etc. Published in 1892 by George Bell & Sons of London and New York.

Whilst the books vary in width they are all approximately 17cms high and 11.2cms deep. The length of the run of the set extends to around 31.5cms.

Vol 8. Titus Andronicus; Romeo and Juliet; Timon of Athens; Julius Caesar.

Internally the pages are clean and crisp and firmly held with very minor occasional light foxing to the edges of the pages. Externally some light scuffing to extremities and some light rubbing to the spines
