Antique Britannic Leather Clad Telescope

1920 - 1940
Description

A nice example of an original antique Telescope dating from the early 20th century. The telescope is made of brass and the main tube is clad in brown leather. It is a 2 draw telescope with an extending sunshade and the tubes retain their original bronzed anti-glare coating. The eyepiece tube is marked "Britannic. Made in England". Closed, the telescope measures approximately 11 1/2" but fully extended is measures 23". It is approximately 2" wide.

The telescope comes with its original protective leather end caps and adjustable carrying strap.

The telescope is in good original condition. It has been lightly cleaned and displays beautifully. It has clearly been well looked after and the tubes are in excellent order with no major dinks or dents and a smooth but firm draw action. The optics through the telescope are good and the lenses are undamaged and generally clean. Please just bear in mind the telescope is 100 years old and the lenses will not be like new. The leather cases are all in good condition with a nice aged patina. There is some wear on the straps but no major breaks or damages.

The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions at all please ask.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
