Description

A set of late 19thC French library steps or possibly shop steps. Made to fold back into themselves for storage. Constructed in a typical French rustic manner with a beech frame and oak struts and steps. Nailed and tenoned joints. The whole washed in lime paint. As with most French furniture woodworm has been at work in the past (treated as a precaution by us) long ago which was probably the reason for the lime wash. The steps are useable and will take weight. The folding mechanism can be locked in place with brass pins to prevent movement when carrying using the seat hand slot. ( Also can be used to lock the bottom section in place when being used as steps)

Useful in a library, kitchen, bathroom or as a bedside unit
