Early 18th Century Mahogany Jardinere

18th century
Description

Fine early 18th century mahogany or possibly red walnut Dutch jardinere or tea bucket. Gorgeous shape with two drawers, all original engraved brassware and original brass liner. All the mouldings, base, middle and top are all cross grain like on early English walnut. The two drawers are both oak lined and dovetailed with the larger one having its orignal early iron lock. The bucket has all its original brassware with the plate handles having engraved back plates with shaped drops.

For such an early example the bucket is in basically very good condition. There are a few minor old veneer repairs as you might expect. Original colour and patination with waxed finish.

A great design wee item and still as useful today as when it was made. Would look lovely with flowers in it.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
