This is a fabulous, early 19th century Welsh antique picture that depicts Conway Castle and the Suspension Bridge beautifully worked in straw on a painted estuary scene with boats in different sizes and a train making its way across the bridge.
Mounted in a fabulous antique maple wood frame and under clear glass. This type of Welsh antique straw work pictures are quite rare, they were made in a country house where mothers out of wedlock were sent to have their babies in secret. To pass time, these straw work pictures of important Welsh landmarks were produced by hand.
