Description

A large telescope by the good London makers Negretti and Zambra. Circa 1910. A powerful instrument suitable for land sea and astronomical viewing. This is a terrestrial telsecope producing images the correct way up. Well made with a typical ebonized main barrel and brass lens housings the telescope sits upon a tripod stand which enables it to scan vertically and horizontally smoothly. The lenses are good and the whole operates without issues. Focusing is achieved manually and then by operating the fine focusing wheel (internal ratchet). This telescope has a brass capstan upon the stand which also enables accurate adjustment vertically and horizontally.

Being over 100 years old the telescope barrel has some oxidization as does the brass work but overall the condition is good.

It would be ideal in a room with a suitable panoramic view over the sea .....a good looking and useable scientific instrument.
