Description:
Here is a fine quality large English Edwardian solid oak artist’s studio easel, circa 1910 - 1920, in excellent original condition. Constructed with two vertical structural blocks and a central adjustable bar, that slides up and down, the top of the picture frame is secured by a height adjustable wooden clamp, which the height can be adjusted by undoing a large steel thumb screw. With the ability to display either small or large pictures, this is ideal for a variety of pictures sizes to be displayed. The easel can display large pictures frames up to a height of 203cm, therefore it can accommodate large pictures! The base of the picture frame is supported by a large oak sill that will accommodate a picture frame up to 11.5cm deep. The sill is also height adjustable and is secured in place by a steel bolt mechanism on the underside. There is also an oak wooden peg below the bold, to ensure that the sill will not accidentally fall, if the bolt has not been correctly deployed (this is effectively a very clever backup system). The base of the vertical blocks is supported by two cast iron bars to the feet. The easel has been traditionally wax polished by hand in our workshop; therefore, the finish and colour are in excellent condition.

Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant, considering the age of the item. The central easel bar is fully height adjustable and the locking mechanisms are present and in working condition. There are no breaks or damage to the frame. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
