In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The Theodolite itself is made of brass and it is engraved "9154. Stanley. Great Turnstile. Holborn. London.

It is in good condition and displays well. The theodolite lenses are undamaged and have the cross-sight. They focus well with an incredible range and clarity. There are some small knocks and surface marks and some tarnishing to the brass but nothing detrimental.

The theodolite comes with its original mahogany tripod with a threaded metal fixing to join to the instrument. It is a large, sturdy and very good quality tripod with pointed ends for poking into the ground.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions at all please get in touch.
