Description

A leaf shaped sailing canoe steering paddle probably Sepik river area. Even today canoes are the most used mode of transport..Paddles with this type of narrow leaf shaped blade are most commonly used for steering sailing canoes rather then propulsion. . Carved paddles were either made for use, trade or ceremony. Tight geometric pattern, common tools were shells or sharks teeth.
