A most handsome Gillows design writing table of fine quality. Constructed using walnut and burr-walnut.
Mid Victorian c.1860.
This is over an arrangement of two frieze drawers, with the original turned bun handles and beautifully figured burr-walnut fronts. Each drawer retains the original brass locks, having the Crown & VR patent stamp. The drawers are mahogany lined and of fine dove-tail construction.
Standing on elegant turned, reeded and tapering legs, terminating in the original brass castors.
The walnut has a rich warm colour, which contrasts beautifully with the darker rich mahogany inset top.
In excellent antique condition.
Very robust, solid, sturdy and strong.
