Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chinese export porcelain was produced during the Qing dynasty specifically for European and Western trade. Potters in Jingdezhen adapted traditional Chinese porcelain production to create Western utilitarian forms, such as tankards, decorated with overglaze enamels.

These items were crafted from high-fired kaolin clay and feldspar glaze, resulting in a durable ceramic body. Designs were hand-painted using underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze enamel palettes such as iron-red, gold, and Mandarin figure panels.

Authentic pieces feature unglazed foot rims, slight irregularities in glaze texture, visible hand-painted brushwork, and period-specific motifs such as sculpted dragon handles, iron-red cell diaper borders, and Mandarin cartouches.

Display the tankard on a sideboard top, bookshelf, or mantelpiece alongside period brass, mahogany, or complimentary ceramics to create a curated vignette.

Clean gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cloths, chemical cleaners, or submersion in hot water, as temperature shifts can cause crazing or damage to overglaze enamels.
