19th Century Chinese Carved Hardwood Water Buffalo

Description

This is a beautiful pair of carved hardwood buffaloes which date from the late 19th century. The animals and their riders are really exquisitely carved and the hardwood has a wonderful colour and patina. The riders have typical paddy field attire, they and the buffaloes have their original bone teeth and eyes. These come with their original carved wood stands and make a very handsome pair. They stand 20 cms high and the stands measure 26 cms by 13 cms.

Rams Head Antiques is a family business based in Wolsingham in Weardale where we have had shop premises for 28 years. The shop is generally open every Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm.
