Large-scale Matched Pair of Late C19th Chinese Qing Dynasty Carved Hardwood Urn Stands .

Description

Large-scale matched pair of late C19th Chinese Qing Dynasty carved hardwood urn stands.

Excellent quality pair of carved ‘hongmu’ marble-topped vase or urn stands of bold proportions. Raised on shaped carved supports united by carved stretchers , with leaf carved detail to the feet and Buddhistic lion mask details to the tops .

The shaped friezes carved and pierced with trailing prunus and blossom detail , the edge of the tops with carved bead decoration, the frame surrounding the inset marble tops carved with flower-head detail.

The tops of shaped , lobed circular form with shaped inset rouge pink marble. Minor variances in the hand-carved detail but crucially identical scale and design.

In excellent original condition with no damage, losses or repairs . No cracks to the marble inset tops .

Impressive scale and height , the pair offering desirable symmetry to add to an interior scheme for use as vase or flower stands.

Rich colour and patina to the dense hardwood or ‘hongmu’ timber , contrasting with well-selected variegated rouge marble tops. The scale and design providing both strength and stability for display purposes.
