This is a wonderful Victorian inkwell, probably made by Elkington & Co.
It is embossed and cast in relief with images of horses through the ages, including Ancient, Medieval and Modern. The glass liner looks to be original and is also in excellent condition. There are areas where the silver plate is worn through, a nd the underlying copper base gives this piece a warm hue.
A lovely statement piece.
