Description

Large 19th century Walrus tusk with scrimshaw decoration, c 1860. The tusk is beautifully decorated with 5 masted ships in sail. It has taken on great colour / patina over the years. Overall condition is good.There is minor rubbing, a hole drilled into the end (I assume it was mounted onto something at one point in its life?) and small chips at both ends,all minor and as you would expect from an old example.
