Description

Rare and unusual Dayak tribal headhunters basket, c 1920. It comprises a woven basket decorated with Monkey skulls and tails and dates from the transitional period when the Dayak people were being prevented from displaying human skulls on their cultural artifacts. The skulls have aged well with great colour /patina and the whole piece has a real tribal presence.Overall condition is good in line with its age and use.

Size: 32 cm long / tall x 30 cm wide x 17 cm deep.
