A Rare Antique Dated Treen Knitting Sheath -Hand

Description

A rare shaped knitting sheath in the shape of a carved hand. The finger sticking up has the hole at the tip for the needle. To the reverse is the slot for the apron strings to hold the sheath in place.

It has the initials MA and the date 1883 carved on the front face. Note the carving at the base on the back to represent the cuff of a shirt.

It measures 21cm h x 6.5cm w at the widest part x 1.5cm d
