French Bronze Retriever Inkwell, C. 1880.

Description

A fine French animalier style bronze inkwell, c. 1880. Finely cast as a seated Retriever, wearing a collar, and having an alert expression. The head is hinged at the collar, to reveal a space for an inkwell. His hair well delineated, beneath a good patination.

Inscribed numbers to the base.

Height - 16.5 cm, 6 1/2”.

Width - 12.7 cm, 5”.

Depth - 8 cm, 3 1/8”.

Condition - Excellent. No damage. No repair.
