A Victorian Ebonised And Painted Sowing Table

An extremely pretty and beautifully made Victorian Ebonised and Painted Sowing or Work Table with Mother of Pearl Inlay. A real well executed topographical painting adorns the serpentine table top, with figures, temples and palm trees. The Mother of Pearl cleverly used to decorate the buildings. Table lid rises to reveal a compartmental interior lined with fabric. Sides and legs are profusely painted with floral and scrolling gilt decoration. Single drawer above a painted shelf. The whole standing on curvaceous legs terminating with castors. A really lovely piece and rare to find in this good original condition. As well as a wonderful sowing table it could also be used as a side, console, occasional, bedside, centre, cloakroom or lamp table.
