A pair of Regency Cast Iron Boot scrapers by the famous Carron Foundry Scotland. So impressed by the Carron Foundry''s Iron work the, Duke of Wellington desired all his armaments to be made by the Scottish Foundry. unfortunately such demand could not be met. However the company prospered through its development and production of a new short-range and short-barrelled naval cannon, the carronade. The company was one of the largest iron works in Europe through the 19th century.
 
Of Horsehoe form, with reeded decoration, this type was designed to be inserted in the earth/ sandstone/ mortar with a sword like blade. Each bearing the mark Carron.
