Exceptional Oversized Inlaid Walnut Inkstand / Double Inkwell - Victorian

Description

A rare example of a Victorian inkstand or desk set smothered with intricate inlaid with the main design being a large Greek key design around the centre of the stand, wonderfully executed to create a three dimensional quality. It's quite incredible that none of the inlay is missing.

The size is impressive, far larger than most measuring a grand 14 1/2" x 9 1/2" x 9 " tall to top of the ebonised carry handle.

The top of the inkstand is made from Walnut with two large integral pen troughs and a central small dish for pen nibs. There is a large drawer underneath for the storage of letters and stationery and due to the unusually large size of this piece, it's a very usable piece in the 21st century.

The inkstand retains it's two original heavy glass inkwells with hinged lids and solid English brass collars, again miraculously undamaged. Each inkwell measures 3 1/8" tall.

Don't let this one pass you by if you have been looking for a set with a difference.
