Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Pierrot inkwell is a functional writing accessory produced predominantly during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, shaped in the likeness of Pierrot, a character from the Italian Commedia dellarte. These pieces served as both decorative desk sculptures and functional ink receptacles.

Figural inkwells were commonly cast in bronze, spelter, or brass, often finished with a dark patina or cold-painted enamel details. Internal ink reservoirs were typically fitted with removable glass or ceramic liners to protect the metal from corrosion.

Authentic period pieces exhibit natural surface wear, casting seam lines consistent with historical manufacturing, and a genuine aged patina rather than uniform chemical darkening. Checking for foundry stamps, maker marks, or original removable glass liners also assists in verification.

An antique figural inkwell functions as a distinctive accent piece on an office desk, library bookshelf, or mantelpiece. Pairing sculpted metal accessories with natural timber surfaces and modern stationery creates a balanced, curated display.

Antique metal objects should be dusted regularly using a soft, dry cloth and kept clear of damp environments. Avoid harsh abrasive cleaners that strip historic patination, and apply a light coat of microcrystalline wax annually to preserve the surface.
