George III Inlaid Mahogany Polygon Wine Cooler

Description

Circa 1770, George III inlaid mahogany and brass-bound polygon wine cooler, likely made in Edinburgh. The top has cross-banded and segmented inlay with flame mahogany and an axe head drop lifting handle to the front, opening to an interior with original linings and divisions. The exterior has shaped cast brass lifting handles either side, and brass banding, and the base has quality features including a reeded apron, and carved open fretwork brackets between the legs. The legs are chamfered to the inside edges, have reeded fronts, and the wine cooler and base section are original and can separate.
