Victorian Coach Built Funeral Bier Carriage

19th century
Description

Something a bit different for you, but something in exceptional condition and beautifully restored, circa 1860.

This magnificent cart is known as a coach built "funeral Bier" carriage and in its time, was used to carry the coffins of the poor that couldn't afford the luxury of a horse drawn carriage. Regardless of that, it is a fabulous piece of history and has been well preserved.

This casket carriage is well restored, steel suspension, steering arm, spoked wheels and solid rubber tyres.

Certainly a collectors piece, but could also see this working well on a farmers market!

Good solid frame and ready to transport whatever you have in mind, or it can be used decoratively and enjoy its retirement.

Approx Dimensions:

Height: 37" Inches

Width: 30" inches

Length: 75" Inches

Please note: this piece is not held with me in Rutland, so if you are genuinely interested in it and would like to view it, you are very welcome to view it in Wiltshire ( address details will be provided ).
