Description

A truly wonderful example of an early 20th century shooting stick in bamboo, brass-finished metal, and steel. This useful piece — used by the hunting, fishing, and shooting brigade — doubles as a makeshift seat or, when folded up, as a walking stick. It is in remarkably good condition for its age with only very minor losses, namely a tiny piece of bamboo on the seat, and almost unnoticeable fragments in the fine canework. It has applied metal retaining rings to the shaft to prevent the bamboo from splitting apart, and a circular stop to prevent the stick from sinking too deeply into soft earth. When folded up, it has an overall height of 87cms. This beautiful shooting stick is English, dating from c.1910.
