Exquisite 19th Century Painted Leather Four Fold Screen

Description

A stunning late 19th Century leather screen beautifully painted with blossoms and exotic birds perched on branches and cliffs, this scene is continuous over the four panels. The shaded gilt background and studded borders provide an excellent foil to the decoration. The condition of this antique screen is good, there is slight damage to the back of two panels (one very minor) and this does not extend to the front. This can be seen if you look closely at the photograph of the reverse of the screen. The condition of the painting is very good and the colours are sharp and bright. The screen stands well with no wobbles. A truely spectacular painted screen that would add glamour and luxury to any interior.
