Description

A rare 19th century Japanese Samurai suit of armour, c1890. The suit appears complete, comprising of iron helmet with lobster tail neck guard (kabuto,) iron face mask (hooate) with neck guard (nodowa,) chest and back plates (donaka,) arm guards (sode and kote,) waist guard (kusazuri,) and leg guards (haitate) . It is decorated with orange and red embroidered fabric with green red and orange lace fastenings. It has aged well with great colour/patina. Overall condition is good with only minor wear and rust to the iron parts of the suit /rubbing in line with age and use and exactly as you would expect from a piece of this age.
