Victorian Velvet Covered Easel

A highly decorative and unusual late Victorian easel, covered in velvet. The easel is of a lovely small but usable size and was probably made to display paintings in a home or a gallery. The frame is wood and is completely covered in velvet with braid, and applied with gilt metal appliques and handle. The whole is in good condition and very sturdy, the velvet as one would expect has faded and worn. The whole has a great faded country house look. I have never seen another decorative easel like this and it may have been a bespoke order. C.1900, possibly earlier.
