Description

A Super Quality William IV Tea or Breakfast Table in Rosewood it is quite large the top swivels through 90 degrees the opens to reveal the full size of the table which is amply large enough for 4 diners. The front of the under top is panelled as is the rear so it can be stood out in the room as both sides are the same ,it has two long drawers in the ends, the base is unusual and of great quality, The condition is excellent a very good quality table.

The William IV style, spanning roughly 1830 to 1837, marks the transition between Regency elegance and Victorian solidity. It is characterised by robust proportions, bold classical carving, architectural lines, and the extensive use of figured woods such as rosewood and mahogany.

Tables from this period were commonly constructed using high-grade timber cuts such as Brazilian rosewood or Cuban mahogany, often applied as thick cut veneers over oak or pine carcasses to showcase grain figures, alongside brass catch mechanisms.
