A large and rare Victorian period"?educational" BOX OF MINERALS in superb original condition.

Complete with working lock and key, it opens to reveal four trays of British minerals, each set within individual trays, and all of which are numbered and described on labels below each specimen. These labels all show the name of the mineral and the exact location where it was found in the British Isles. There are, in total 200 examples . A remarkable and very scarce box.

*** Such cabinets of minerals were produced partly for education purposes and partly as collector's items. It is rare to find an example in such complete and original condition and one which exclusively contains British minerals, has not been seen by us before.
