Antique Welsh Niddy Noddy - Small Size Treen

Description

A rare small sized Welsh Niddy Noddy carved with the words "Rwyn dy grui di am byth Llanailo ' which translates as "Give me your love forever". Its dated A 1831 D. Bone diamond inlay with the initials AW and HT, must have been made as a love token.

An unusual piece of Welsh treen only measuring 20cm l x 17cm w at its widest points. Small shaped central stem.

Niddy Noddies were used to wind wool into skeins.
