Description:

Here is an excellent quality antique English Victorian mahogany upholstered four-fold dressing screen, circa 1910, which has been newly upholstered, and is in excellent condition. The dressing screen boasts four folding graduated panels. The panels are topped with shaped glass windows set within the frame, which boast shaped scroll carved top rails, raised on vertical supports. The design of the top rails is reflected in a second rail beneath the glass windows. The exterior side of the panels also displays cream coloured braiding to the frame around the glass. Below, the exterior of the panels features an upholstered section, with a deep pink and cream coloured geometric pattern structured silk material. The interior of the dressing screen features a cream and pink coloured floral structured silk upholstery. The upholstery to both sides of each panel is new and of very good quality. The screen panels are raised on straight block feet. The dressing screen is articulated in a concertina fashion and allows several different configurations.

Condition Report:

This dressing screen is in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant, considering the age of the item. It has been newly upholstered in top quality deep pink and cream colour structured silk material on one side, and cream & pink floral structured silk material on the other. The upholstery is therefore new, clean and free from any wear, dirt or damage. The panels are original and the carvings are free from damage. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
