Tinsel Picture 19th Century Mr Horn as Casper

Description

This is a really charming early Victorian tinsel picture in nice original condition dating from around 1840. The picture depicts the Georgian actor Mr Horn as Caspar. The hand coloured print is embellished with foil and metal enamels and cut out collage detail.

These antique tinsel pictures were popular in the early 19th century but are becoming increasingly hard to find now. This is a really good example and one of four of these we have recently acquired from a small collection. This is a really good example with a great subject and is in a smart solid oak frame that suits it admirably.

The frame measures 35 cms by 28 cms.

Rams Head Antiques is a family business based in Wolsingham in Weardale where we have had shop premises for 28 years. The shop is generally open every Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm.
