Description

Unusual sampler with a rustic cottage scene flanked by floral emblems, above a long text describing the descent of members of the Thomas family of the parish of Ystradgynlais, in the Swansea Valley, from Thomas John Thomas and Jane Thomas.

The lower section has a text in the Welsh language, which is an extremely rare feature.

The black and gold Hogarth frame is possibly contemporary, or could be from later in the century.
