Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Taylor and Skinner road maps refer to eighteenth-century surveys published by George Taylor and Andrew Skinner detailing the main routes of Ireland and Scotland. First published in the late 1770s, these strip maps illustrate roads, topography, landmarks, and gentry estates for contemporary travellers.

These volumes were printed on rag paper using engraved copper plates and were commonly bound in leather, such as calfskin or sheepskin. The maps feature detailed line engravings alongside hand-stitched binding structures.

Authentic eighteenth-century atlases display laid paper with visible chain lines or watermarks, distinct impression marks from copperplates, and period-appropriate typography. Wear patterns, light foxing, and original binding structure consistent with late Georgian techniques further indicate authenticity.

An open antique atlas can be displayed upright on a library table, positioned on a wooden book stand within a bookshelf display, or placed inside a glass showcase. Pairing printed historical cartography with understated brass accents complements both traditional and modern study spaces.

Store historic volumes in a stable environment away from direct sunlight, elevated humidity, and direct heat sources to limit paper deterioration. Handle pages with clean hands, avoid forcing tight bindings flat, and utilize acid-free conservation materials for display or storage.
