Georgian Sampler by Susannah Mimmack

A fine example of a late Georgian sampler. Stitched in silk and cotton on linen. The sampler has an unusual central design of what looks almost like a Christmas tree! but is more likely a basket of fruit. The lower section has a great central fruit tree surrounded by animals, birds, and two large stylised roses. The whole is in fantastic condition there are no losses or moth holes, there is a some discolouration from dust and the usual slight fading but it is overall in great condition. The sampler is signed Susannah Mimmack, aged 10, and dated 1819. The frame is mahogany and the original, which again is in great condition and has a lovely colour and original patina. The whole is a really good example of a late Georgian sampler and a charming piece of antique needlework with a great period decorative look.
