A large mid-17th century gilt-framed MAP of SOUTH AMERICA by the famous French cartographer: Hubert Jaillot, who was mapmaker to Le Dauphin. With much interesting detail and finely hand-coloured, it is dedicated to the French monarch. Image size: 34.5 x 22.5ins (87.5x57cms) excluding the good frame.

***Alexis-Hubert JAILLOT (1632-1712) was mapmaker and geographer to King Louis XIV of France. (An entry in Wikipedia concerning M. Jaillot, illustrates this particular map).
