Description

ASPREY of Bond Street (LONDON): a superb quality late 19th century boulle DESK SET in remarkably fine original condition. It comprises: the large folder lined with navy Morocco leather pockets; the blotter (with removable knob to allow fresh blotting paper to be fitted) and the wonderful Desk Stand (or "Standish") with its fine pair of original Ink Bottles with boulle tops; pen tray and lidded compartment for stamps etc.

The whole set is beautifully decorated in the very finest quality English "Boulle" (brass-inlaid tortoiseshell). The Standish is signed by the retailer (Aspreys) and this set was almost certainly made by Vickery, in the late 19th century. The Standish: 12 x 9ins (30.5 x 23cms)
